ABOUT
Kenneth Duncan Litwak
Kenneth Duncan Litwak is passionate about helping believers grow closer to God, become more like Jesus, and aid them in their journey as disciples. He does this through teaching about Scripture, and showing how its message is relevant to spiritual growth.
He has taught numerous adult Sunday school classes, led small groups, preached, and led a workshop on praying Scripture. He has written numerous Bible study guides on biblical passages and the background of those passages for churches he has been a part of.
Dr. Litwak has significant academic training in interpreting and applying the Bible but he seeks to use that training to help believers connect God’s message in Scripture to real life.
Currently, he teaches Bible courses and is writing a practical book on praying Scripture. He is available for teaching and leading workshops on praying Scripture and diving deep into the Bible’s treasures.
There’s one thing that may not be obvious. Dr. Litwak was born with several eye problems. He is very near-sighted. He has Nystagmus (his eyes go back and forth on their own and this cannot be fixed. He has what one ophthalmologist gave the technical name “droopy eyelids.” No matter what he does, he cannot get his eyelids to open very far and stay that way. In 1989, he developed a cataract. The surgeon that did the cataract surgery bungled it badly and his right retina was destroyed. So, his right eye does not act as it should. However, don’t be like many potential employers and write him off because of these.
Yes, his eyelids do look like he doesn’t care or is sleepy, but that’s a false impression. If Dr. Litwak doesn’t seem to make good eye contact, it’s not for lack of trying. He is paying attention, even when it looks like he isn’t. His wife long ago gave up trying to wink at him because he couldn’t see it.
In spite of these challenges, Dr. Litwak was a computer programmer for twenty-five years and more recently, the reference and instruction librarian for a seminary for almost eight years. He has multiple degrees and can read multiple ancient languages. So, please ignore what his eyes look like and listen for his heart for equipping believers to understand and apply the Bible to real life instead.
